Discovering Queensland

The Last couple of days in Queensland was spent touring around different areas of the Sunshine Coast.

Noosa Heads beach

Gaille and I enjoying a morning cappuccino and muffin

This view of Noosa is from the beach - before the cyclone sand covered the rocks and one could walk directly from the boardwalk on to the beach. Sand is now being pumped into the ocean and the tides will carry the sand back on to the beach and eventually cover the rocks again.

Some wildlife we came across in Noosa. Do not know what kind of bird this is but the lizard is a Goanna - no koala or python sightings

Trish, Gaille and I taking morning walks along the ocean.

Trish took us for a drive into the hills to view the Glass House Mountains. The weather although warm has been very unpredictable - sunny, then it pours and then overcast - however this is the rainy season for Queensland.

Wouldn't you love to have the house with this view!

We visited a few towns like Montville to have lunch and browse the quaint shops.

Found a second hand clothes store and the girls couldn't resist choosing bridal outfits

Our last evening in Noosa Nick and Trisha took us out on their boat to cruise the river and canals.

Skipper Nick with Gaille supervising.

Some amazing homes along the river and spectacular ones along the canal - homes with totally glassed fronts that we were able to peer into once it was dark but I resisted taking pictures.

One of Richard Branson's houses (owner of virgin airlines). He actually has an entire complex here that one can rent for $20,000 a night - out of my budget.

Wonderful picnic dinner prepared by Trish which included champagne, duck pâté, assorted meats and cheese as well as the most delicious roasted vegetable salad - what a feast to enjoy while thousands of bats fly over head to hang upside down for the night!

Pelican on the water as we arrived back at the dock.

Our last morning was breakfast at the local surf club and then a drive around the area to catch a glimpse of some fabulous homes in the area.

Thank you Trish and Nick for your hospitality (if you make it to Victoria you have a place to stay) and thank you Gaille for organizing this visit!
